New Era Colorado May Have Violated Tax Exempt Status
I am an election lawyer practicing in Colorado and who represents Republicans and right-leaning organizations, and unfortunately even I have to say there is less here than meets the eye. New Era Colorado (the 501(c)(4)) was incorporated and registered with the secretary of state as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation in 2006. The organizational documents from 2006 indicate that it was to be a 501(c)(4). What registered on 10/10 was a political committee. Notably, the political committee is NOT New Era Colorado, the official name of the 501(c)(4), but New Era Colorado Political Committee, indicating a separate entity. This is likely intended to be a separate fund into which New Era Colorado Members may contribute and which in turn will contribute directly to candidates.

New York cities on the brink of bankruptcy
Just as some cities file for bankruptcy if there are no other options available for working out their financial issues, households and individuals can do so as well. If a family cannot balance their checkbook and consistently has more debt than they can manage to pay off, filing for bankruptcy may be a smart option. This could allow the household to move forward with their lives and perhaps get out of debt altogether.

A123 showered Democrats with donations before bankruptcy
The Massachusetts firm dished out nearly $1 million to hire a powerhouse lobbying firm with close ties to President Barack Obama between 2007 and 2009, and two of its top executives made personal donations to several high-profile Democrats in Congress as it won federal funding for its efforts to build the next generation of lithium batteries for electric vehicles.

Bankruptcy and Foreclosure
The are two nominees for the open Senate seat in my state this election; the first we’ll call the “Challenger”, and the second the “Opposition”. Through the mudslinging and accusations that are typical with a political race, two important facts have emerged. The Challenger filed bankruptcy in 1976 wiping out nearly $1 million in debt and the Opposition fell into foreclosure some years ago. The Challenger today is a successful business woman that has a net worth of 100′s of millions of dollars and the Opposition was able to reinstate his mortgage and refinanced out of the defaulted loan that he had.
